About our club
The East Gungahlin Netball Club (EGNC) is the only club in the North Canberra Netball Competition (if not the ACT) that is not a school based club but caters only for junior (under 18) players. We are proud that our focus is only on developing and maturing our school age players and providing them with a family friendly and supportive environment which we believe brings out the best in our players and their families. We are not a big club but we pride ourselves on the fact that we accept players of all abilities and provide them with the option of playing with their friends at an appropriate level of competition. We choose not to become a big club in an effort to make us more accessible to parents and more importantly, our players.

Will the team I played for last year stay together this year?
We (or your coach) will notify you if your team from last year will stay together this year. Whilst we would prefer that teams stay together, often that is not possible due to families moving out of the area or electing to play with different clubs or play different sports.
Please note that if your child played with an EGNC team last year and that team is staying together but moving to a higher age group this year, you may opt for your child to continue to play with that team even if they are still eligible to play for a younger age group.

What do I need to do now?
To assist us with our planning for the 2025 season and the allocation of players to teams, we ask that you complete an online form for each of your children who will be playing with our club this year. Please note this is not registration and there is no cost involved. Completion of the form will confirm that your child will play with our club this year (subject to us having sufficient players to form teams) and allow us to prepare for the first training sessions. Please complete the form here:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScPfkTlj0Uy1yYoLpNhenTSlnA5ArtgXp9GTdWAAtVjlK3lPw/viewform?usp=headerWhen will training start?
Training will commence in the weeks after the team allocation session. Typically our teams will train on a Monday or Thursday afternoons with our younger age groups (NetSetGo and Juniors) usually training from 4.30 to 5.30pm and our older age groups (Intermediates and Cadets) training from 5.30 to 6.30 or 7pm. The training days and times for each team will be dependent on player and coach availability.
Where will training be held?
Our club trains at the Lyneham outdoor netball courts which are located here:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/YMF64vjgR7TATta37.How and when can I register?
We will open registration after once we have confirmed the allocation of players to teams. The registration will be online via PlayHQ which accepts various payment methods (credit and debit cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay and PayPal) including the PayPal “Pay in 4” option. Please note that PlayHQ has introduced a 1.49% service fee charged to participants on all transactions.
How much will registration cost?
The cost for registration has not yet been finalised by our parent associations, the Canberra Netball Association and Netball ACT. Assuming there is no significant increase in their fees, we expect the costs will be similar to last year. Indicative fees are: $235 for NetSetGo Set and Go, $250 for Juniors and Intermediates and $275 for Cadets. Players who play in more than one team (for example a mixed team or playing up a division) may receive a subsidised rate for their second team. We’ll provide further advice about that when registration opens.
How much will uniforms cost?
We are still finalising the cost of uniforms this year, as we are considering a new uniform supplier. As a guide, the prices last year were $80 for new dresses, $55 for boys and girls singlet. As mentioned earlier in this document, PlayHQ will charge a 1.49% service fee on all transactions. We sometimes have second hand dresses available which cost $20, however in recent years there have been very limited numbers and sizes available. For those returning players who have second hand EGNC uniforms that no longer fit and are willing to donate them to the club, we would appreciate it if you could bring them with you to the first training session. All uniform orders must be made via PlayHQ.
When and where will I play?
Typically teams will play the first half of the season at either the Lyneham or the Charnwood netball courts and swap to the other courts half way through the season. NetSetGo Set games usually start at 8.30am, NetSetGo Go games usually start at either 8.30 or 9.30am, Juniors usually start at 10.30am but some divisions start at 9.30am, Inters at 11.30am or 12.30pm and Cadets at 12.30pm, 1.45pm or 3.15pm. Mixed netball games were played at 9.30am last year. Players are usually requested to be at the courts no later than 20 minutes prior to the start of each game – your coach or team manager will advise when and where you should meet. Parking is usually difficult for any games starting after 8.30am at both venues, so please factor in some extra time to find a parking spot and walk to the courts.
The Charnwood netball courts are located here:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/SuANagoGZ1TWwwidADo you sell hoodies?
Whilst they are not part of our uniform and therefore there is no obligation to buy them, we also sell EGNC hoodies a couple of times each year. The first opportunity to order will open a few weeks before the end of term 1. The cost for the hoodies has not yet been confirmed for this year, but last year they cost between $55 and $72 depending on the options selected.
How can I become involved in the club?
We are always looking for more coaches, umpires and team managers. Please email us at
egnetball@gmail.com if you would like to be considered for one of these roles. For coaches, we will reimburse the cost of coaching courses available on
https://learning.netball.com.au upon successful completion.
If there are no vacancies available for your preferred role, there will also be opportunities for parents to help out with scoring or other roles to help out your team.
Our club is run by volunteers and we rely on the parents and carers of our players to help us where they can. Our club is required to help out the Canberra Netball Association during game days at Lyneham once or twice each year. If you are unable to assist with every game, your assistance to fulfil our Canberra Netball Association requirements (usually only for 30 minutes), would benefit everyone, especially our children.
